Story telling during school's open house

My kids' school held their Open House this year with the theme "Reading Is Fun".

The teachers did a good job decorating the school with a few photo corners.

Gor gor with his bestie having breakfast before the event started. The K2 classes were involved in a few performances for the parents and visitors today.

They have dance lesson every Monday and today they show off what they learnt. The gals especially danced very well.

Gor gor was among the 3 K2 students chosen to tell a story. He recited "The Piped Piper of Hamelin". We did rounds of practise at home. Taught him how to project his voice, maintain eye contact with audience, hands gestures... etc. But at the back of my mind, I just hope for one thing. That he won't back out last minute when he stands in front of all the parents! In the end, I think he did well. A little shaky initially and forgot a line but he picked up quickly and managed to complete the whole story without hiccups.

With his teacher.

His class also performed a skit... can't remember the title, something about farmers, Mr and Mrs Brown, who got disturbed during their sleep by noisy farm animals. Gor gor had the role of Mr Brown. In this photo, he was telling the "ducks" to be quiet and go back to zzz.... The kids were so cute, acting their roles so well. See the smiling faces of the adults in the mirror reflection.

In the morning, everyone woke up and Mr Brown fed the "animals" with sweets. lol

Notice: Mrs Brown is still in bed. lol

The school principal insisted we take a couple pix. Why did I even wear that big sunflower on my head?!?!?

Better not leave this as the last image. Here's something more pleasant.

Mei mei's is 3!

Mei mei has been anticipating this day so much that... guilty guilty... I have been using her birthday celebration as a threat to make her behave.  :P  "Stop whining, or no birthday celebration for you!" She will stop. "Keep all your toys, or no birthday celebration for you!" She will tidy up immediately. "Sit still and finish your food, or no birthday celebration for you!" She will sit and eat. Worked like magic! Not sure if this the the right way to treat a child but it worked and saved me lots of nagging.

She wakes early everyday and first thing would be to ask for "milk milk" but today, instead of milk, she sang the Birthday song! She is just so adorable.

Promised them a day at POLW, so off we go!

Going down the slide with papa.

Gor gor is having a blast!

But someone is not liking it.

That's grandpa at the base of the slide. My parents definitely visit pools and parks more often after having grandkids.

Lunch wasn't too healthy but we were celebrating a birthday so it's fine. lol

The sun got a little unbearable so we left POLW at around 3pm. Showered and went for a walk across the suspension bridge. Climbed the viewing tower as well. Grandma did it despite her weak knees as she couldn't bear to be left behind waiting downstairs.

Gor wanted his pix taken here. I wonder if there is any special meaning to this structure e.g. the "t" is from a natural tree trunk or something, cos I find this pretty ugly. The center portion sticking out like a sore thumb.

We ended the day with dinner at Swensen. Lots of ice-cream for the birthday gal (and bro) of cos. Just a note, service at Marina Square branch is really lousy.

A visit to the Singapore Zoo

When gor gor was 2 yr old, we bought the annual pass to the Zoo and visited so often. Poor mei mei is nearly 3 and hasn't even been to the Zoo. So today we decided to spend a day there with the kids and my parents. First stop, Splash Safari Show at 10:30am then Elephants at Work and Play Show at 11:30am. It was the first time mei mei watches a animal show at the Zoo and she was most serious and wasn't even interested in her snack.

We were lucky to catch the white tiger awake and active during this visit. It is usually just lazing around but today it was pacing and even went into the water. Maybe it is hungry.

Mei mei's attempt at smiling.

Mei mei attempted to wear grandma's hat but cos her head is so small, it ended up looking like a beekeeping veil. She tot it's amusing and walked around like this attracting quite a few stares.

Ice-cream break!

At 6 yr old, he finally has the gut to ride a pony.

Korea 2015 Travelogue Day 8

Naksan Park and Mural Village

Gonna do lots of walking today. And for that energy boost, it's kimbab for breakfast. They do it in so many different flavours and all so cheap and good! We tabao the kimbabs and ate them on the train on the way to Naksan Park. Stop at Hyehwa Station (Subway line 4, exit 2).

There are maps to show where all the murals are and suggested walking routes. Lots of walking through narrow pathways and climbing up and down stairs. Tiring but definitely an interesting place to get lost in.

Interesting cafe.

yummy strawberry daifuku for snack.
