#69 G'd Morning, Lady Bug!

Been so busy and tired lately with freelance work that I haven't been posting much. I get comments all the time that I'm having the best of both worlds to be able to work from home and "watch" my baby grows. But nobody knows how tiring that can be, to have to juggle so many things everyday. Many also asked how I find time to prepare all these "cute" food for my kid. I wondered about this too and realised that I enjoy doing it because the result makes me happy. Just look at the photo of the flowers and beetle, don't they simply put a smile on your face?

Flowers are spread with marmalade thus giving the orangey faces. The beetle was cut from a mini Babybel cheese and seaweed used for details.

Hi lil'tummy Yummies! I love your food creations. Would like to attempt making this cute lady bug creation for my picky 17mths daughter. Can u share tips on how you go about making the details like the eyes and mouth? Do u cut freehand or use a tool? Thanks! - jess

Hi Jess, I cut them freehand. To cut the circles, I folded the seaweed a few times so I can cut all the layers at the same time and have same size circles. As for the lady bug, I simply used a knife and gently trace out the shape that I want to remove then cut again deeper so that I can remove the red wax.

When u feed your girl, make sure you remove all the red wax before she sink her teeth into the cheese. Have fun!

I totally get what you mean! When we enjoy something that is important to us, we will find time to do it :) You are doing great! Give yourself a pat on the back!

By the way, can you share where do you buy the bento boxes from? I'm thinking of getting one to start making healthier food options to take-out. Thanks in advance!

Corsage, I bought the plastic ones from Daiso, but these are not good for hot food. The stainless steel one was bought online but they only comes in kiddy designs.

You can find some really pretty plastic bento boxes in kinokuniya or wooden ones from Muji. These are more suitable designs for adults. Have fun cooking!
