Korea 2015 Travelogue Day 3

Today's itinerary includes shopping at Ewha Woman's University area, BBQ lunch and shopping at Lotte Mart.

First up, food. lol.. We planned to have Korean BBQ lunch so decided to keep breakfast light by having street food. While planning for this trip, I read lots of bloggers raved about how good this egg bread is so I decided to give it a try this morning.

Verdict... Not that fantastic leh. Perhaps I had too high expectation after reading all those blogs, but this simply tasted like a spongy muffin with egg.

Walked around the school campus a little, it was beautiful, but felt too cold so we ended up in a cafe.

Verdict: There are better options for coffee and cakes but the cheesecake looks pretty.

Looking out to the campus ground from the cafe.

Shopping around this school vicinity is great. Lots of choices at reasonable price. Bought a hooded wool coat for myself as the Patagonia jacket doesn't seem to be keeping me warm enough. There are lots of shops selling socks at KRW1000 per pair.. which is about SGD1.20. Very cheap.

Next up, lunch at Palsaik Samgyupsal!

We ordered the sampler set of pork marinated in 8 different flavours. Very quickly, all these were placed before us.

Veg to wrap ur meat and kimchi and garlic and chilli so that you can shove the whole package into ur mouth. Heavenly.

The meal included seafood stew.

Stars of the meal... thick slices of pork belly marinated in 8 different types of seasoning. My fav are the Ginseng and garlic ones. But they all tasted very good.

Staff will bbq the food for you but they were doing it too quickly. We had to tell them to slow down cos we couldn't finish the meat fast enough and they were pilling up on the grill.

This stew is very yummy too. Felt so good to be having BBQ meat and hot soup on a cold winter day.

If there's one eatery I'd return, this will be one of them.

PS: If you are worried about smelling like BBQ pork, don't worry, the seat has a lid which you can open and store your coat in so it doesn't get all smokey smelling.

Sinchon Subway exit 6
Walk straight til you see 7-11, turn left and look out for KIA Motors building on your right. Palsaik Samgyupsal is at the first level right corner of the building.

After a very satisfying lunch, we headed to Lotte Mart (Seoul Station branch) for more shopping. The place was crowded with tourists cos I could hear all sorts of languages, mainly Chinese and Cantonese.

Fresh abalones at only KRW10,000 per plate. If only I can buy a few of these back home.

Yan dao guy grocery shopping  :P

Kimchi galore!

If only we can get these in Singapore.

Lots of people were buying these so being a KS Singaporean, I bought a box too. Turned out, they are quite good.

We bought quite a bit of snacks for the kids and their friends in school. It was possible to squeeze them all into our luggage but a more convenient way was to ship send them back to Singapore directly from the supermarket. They are such geniuses to have this service!
