Ever since Singapore took over all railway land in Woodlands, crowd flocked to the Bukit Timah Railway station every weekends to reminisce Singapore's railway past. This trek starts from Bukit Timah station all the way to the Rail Mall and it is about 3-kilometers long. It was opened to the public till 17th July. Not wanting to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we joined the crowd on the very last weekend the track was opened. Boy, was it crowded and there was simply no way to take a good photo without the colourful and busy background.
Hubby had initially intended to walk the whole distance but we gave up after an hour because it was getting hot and Jr refused to walk further. Actually, I didn't really felt like walking any further especially when I thought of the return journey under the hot sun :P
We started our morning with a Mac Big Breakfast at King's Albert's Park then walked over to the railway. Even at Mac, you can sense that the trail is gonna be crowded. We started our walk from the black truss bridge, which is a familiar sight along Bukit Timah Road/Dunearn Road. I used to pass by this bridge daily on my way to school and sometimes will catch sight of the train passing, never did I imagine I will walk on it one day.
This was me, inappropriately shoed for the walk.
I'm sure many are glad to know that this station has been officially gazetted as a conserved building. It'd be nice if the area can be turned into a museum.
Today's lunch is sweet potato porridge with egg omelette. On the side are cool cucumber aliens, orange wedges and sticks of edamame.
