#73 Breakfast Sammies and Bread sticks
Breakfast for today... Scrambled egg, 1 peanut butter sandwich, 1 strawberry jam sandwich, grapes and bread sticks.
Whenever I cut out sandwiches from slices of bread, I'm left with the crust and most often I would just throw them away. It's a waste but I can't eat them all up, can I? :S I learnt from a fellow bentoer father (yes, a father!) to make bread sticks from bread crust. It's so yummy and you can make them in so many different flavours.
Cinnamon Breadstick
Cut out the sides of a slice of bread
Line them up on a baking tray, bread side up.
Spread a thin layer of butter
Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top
Bake in a toaster for about 5 minutes.
Scrambled Egg
Beat 2 eggs with 2 tablespoons of milk
Heat up non-stick pan.
Add egg mixture and wait for the mixture to settle slightly before you use a spatula to push eggs toward center while tilting skillet to distribute runny parts. Continue till egg mixture continue to set. Flip over all the eggs. Allow the eggs to cook 15 to 25 seconds longer. Add salt and pepper to taste.
PS: For people who doesn't like and throw away the bread crust, you may really wanna try eating them. Firstly, it's not good to waste food, secondly, there was actually a report stating that eating bread crust is good for health!
"The best thing since sliced bread may be bread crust: Researchers in Germany have discovered that the crust is a rich source of antioxidants and may provide a much stronger health benefit than the rest of the bread."
