Birthday at Universal Studio Singapore

This is a long over due post. Jr celebrated his 2nd birthday in September and because the day clashed with our cousin's wedding, we decided not to throw a party. Instead we had a fun-filled super long weekend which started with a day at Universal Studio, took a day rest and then drove to Desaru for another 2 days of  sun, sand and sea(food).

I've been procrastinating on bringing Jr to USS because the tixs are so expensive and I'm not sure if he'll be afraid of the rides and mascots and if it's gonna just be a waste of time and money. Thanks to a dear friend, I got 2 tixs at a super discounted price, and decided to give the place a try. It started out real well, with Jr napping throughout the car journey.

That's him sleeping ...

That's him... still sleeping...

It was so funny when hubby and I couldn't decide if we should wake him and risk him getting cranky or let him continue sleeping but kinda defeat the purpose of bringing him to USS. We eventually woke him up and luckily he was too distracted by the sights and sounds to be cranky.

That's Jr and dad. Yes, dad's somewhere near, can you spot him?

We were very lucky there wasn't a crowd on this day. We didn't have to queue for any of the shows, performances and rides and thus was able to catch all of them. "Light Camera Action" is our favorite, Jr couldn't take his eyes off the set. He got all excited when the rain started pouring and wind howling and props went flying. There were water, wind, fire and a mega big surprise at the end of the show. Another show which we enjoyed was Shrek 4D, too bad we had to sit on the non-moving chairs (because Jr didn't want to sit on his own) else the experience would definitely be much better. He got a little spooked when things got too "close" to his face. It was also a challenge for me because I had to hold his 4D glasses up for him throughout the show.

WaterWorld is a little messy and full of actions, water spraying and lots of, in Jr's words, "Boom boom boom"!

We stopped for lunch at Loui’s NY Pizza Parlor, price is quite reasonable but the quality of food can be improved. The best thing in this eatery is the kid's meal, which includes spaghetti and meat balls and a cup of iced-milo. It's good not because of the food but because it comes with a very nice lunchbox!
