Korea 2015 Travelogue Day 6

Seoraksan and Myeongdong

We were told by the guesthouse owner to make our way to Seoraksan early in the morning, before the tour buses arrive. Ticketing booth opens at 9am so we planned to reach before that.

There is a Tourist Info Office in front of the Bus Terminal. Good place to get maps and info of the area. Further up the street, is the bus stop to catch the bus to Seoraksan.

Take bus 7-1 and alight at the last stop.

Poor bear has so much bird poop on his head.

We were among the first in queue for the cable car. Behind us, we could see truck bus loads of tourists flocking to go up the mountains.  >.<  And this is considered off-peak season, can't imagine how crowded this place is during the peak season.

Why is there ice? Rained on snow? Anyway, the ice caused some parts of the pavement to be very slippery and we had to hold on to the railing at the side to prevent from falling. It was fine on our way up as we were early and no one was coming down from the other direction. When we were on our way down, it was more challenging with people approaching from both directions and all needing to hold that single railing to move.

Doesn't the background look like a Chinese painting?

There is a huge rock with many stacked stones on it. Suppose to grant our wishes so we found our own stones... 3 bigger ones for our parents and 4 smaller ones for our family. We wished for good health for everyone! Our cute little stack of stones  :)

After the climb, we took a bus to Dong Seoul Bus Terminal and then from there took metro all the way back to Seoul. For the last few nights in Seoul, we stayed in an apartment booked thru air bnb.

More about JJ Studio apartment in a separate blog here.

As we were pretty tired from all the hiking and travelling, we didn't explore Myeongdong tonight.
